About
Beatriz is a Fellow at POPVOX Foundation and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of São Paulo. She was a Visiting Fellow at the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University and a Senior Researcher at the Center for Studies on the Brazilian Congress at the State University of Rio de Janeiro. She worked as a legislative assistant for Rep. Gregory W. Meeks at the U.S. House of Representatives. Beatriz holds a Ph.D. in political science from Syracuse University and a M.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Beatriz holds a Ph.D. in political science from Syracuse University, a M.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA in Journalism. During the last ten years, Beatriz has become a champion for Congress. She is passionate about finding ways to improve the work of legislatures for legislators and citizens. As a researcher, she studies legislative politics and policymaking in a comparative perspective. She also loves teaching, especially classes about legislative politics.
She currently writes a monthly column for the Brazilian Report. Beatriz is from São Paulo, Brazil, but lived in the United States for 11 years. She now lives in Lisbon, Portugal, where she is learning to play the pandeiro, a Brazilian instrument.
